One of the most popular neighborhoods in Minneapolis, Fulton offers beautiful outdoor recreation at Lake Harriet in its northeast corner. With a sandy beach, a path along the shoreline, boat dock, fishing pier, garden, picnic area, and more, Lake Harriet is one of the best places to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. The Fulton neighborhood is also known for quality schools, rich historic character and a strong sense of community among its residents. It’s a short commute to downtown Minneapolis by either car or bus, and is home to some of the district’s top performing public schools, including Lake Harriet Lower, Lake Harriet Upper, and Southwest High.

Fulton borders the suburb of Edina and is located in the southwest corner of Minneapolis. It’s bound on the north by 47th Street West, on the east by Penn Avenue South, on the south by 54th Street West, and on the west by France Avenue South. The neighborhood takes its name from Robert Fulton, the engineer and artist who invented the steamboat in the 19th century. Most of the charming, well-kept homes in the neighborhood were built in the 1920s, and are available at a variety of price ranges. The most common architectural styles are Craftsman, Bungalow, and Foursquare.

The pleasant Pershing Park has many recreational facilities including a soccer field and tennis courts. New and updated bike lanes are planned for the southwest area in the next few years, easing north-south travel in and out of downtown.

Fulton residents celebrate their community at the Fabulous Fulton Plant sale, neighborhood garage sales, the Fulton Fall Festival, Southwest High School performances and football games. Plus, there’s a range of activities that take place along Lake Harriet year-round.

The Fulton Farmers Market, at 4901 Chowen Ave. S., sprouted from the desire of Fulton residents to establish a gathering place where neighbors could meet, socialize, and shop locally.
